Solo Projects
Hannes Valur composes, produces, and masters his solo projects entirely on his own — crafting every detail from the first note to the final mix. His recent works showcase both emotional depth and creative versatility, including the string piece Inno Popolare, originally composed for the renowned restaurant Pizza Popolare, and Hvíld, a classical guitar piece reflecting on the loss of a close family member.
Winter Leaves
Winter Leaves is an Icelandic rock duo formed by Hannes Valur and Soffía Björg. Their music blends raw, emotional rock with deeply personal lyrics. Their discography includes the EP Higher, the full-length album Cold September, and a series of singles such as Rays, Feel, Lately, and Unbound.
In 2023, Winter Leaves was a finalist in Sykurmolinn, the song contest hosted by X977 and Orka náttúrunnar. The band operates across two regions of Iceland, with members based in Egilsstaðir and Álftanes, collaborating remotely to create their signature sound.
πlot
πlot is a four-piece band combining Brit-pop, rock, and piano-driven pop to craft emotionally rich, melodic songs. Fronted by Gulli (vocals/piano), alongside Hannes Valur (guitar), Valli (bass), and Arnór (drums), their 2025 debut album π dives into themes of grief, love, and renewal.
Songs like Snowdrops, The Grieving Atheist, and Low carry lyrical weight and dynamic arrangements, moving from quiet moments of guitar and piano to sweeping, emotional choruses. With a sound that’s both tender and powerful, πlot creates music that hits on a personal level while staying memorable and easy to connect with.
