Hannes Valur is an Icelandic composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Álftanes, a small town just outside Reykjavík. Working from his countryside studio, he crafts intimate instrumental music.

For more than 15 years, Hannes Valur performed and recorded with several rock, pop, and punk bands — including Winter Leaves (a 2023 finalist in the song contest Sykurmolinn on Radio X), Monday Madness, and πlot — before shifting his focus toward instrumental and cinematic compositions. His recent works, such as Dreams Of The Past and Beneath The Quiet, highlight his use of piano, electric guitar, ambient textures, and layered sound design to build calm, atmospheric pieces.

Entirely self-sufficient in his solo projects, Hannes Valur writes, records, produces, mixes, and masters his music — allowing him to shape every detail with precision. Open to collaboration, he also composes for others and offers production and mastering services.
